Taffy--did you have your scores sent directly to the Academy? If not, I doubt you would be able to get them there by the 15 April deadline. I asked my dd about this and she reminded me that she'd had them sent straight there. She's planning on asking her liaison officer today if she should send him a copy--again, I don't know if they'd even get there in time... Aren't they supposed to be online the 11th?

i asked the rep and he said he would love to hear my scores, but i dont know if that means he would count them, lol.

Anyone that survived the new SAT deserves to have their scores looked at! Did you have old (Dec) scores to send? My dd took the Dec one just to have them for summer things, as her PSAT was not quite what she'd hoped for...

i sent in my psat (70 M, 47 V, 62 W) on my real sat i think i might have gotten high 700s or maybe even 800 on the math section, so hopefully i can show them that.

Ooh, that would be nice to have those improved scores--hope you get them! If you see that much improvement, I would definitely send them in! Dd saw an increase from a 60 on the PSAT V to a 690 on her first SAT and a 63 on M to a 690 on M, so you could easily see that kind of a jump. I just hope her 73 on W doesn't go down! ;-)

She asked, and he said, send them on!

there were 3 math sections on the sat. for the first 2, i went through easily and got every problem right, and had time to go back and make sure i filled in the right bubble on all of them (on the psat i accidently filled in the wrong bubble on one of the math answers, dropping my score from probably 73 to 70). on the third section i got to the last problem and had to guess after narrowing it down to 2. after i left i realized the answer. as for the reading and writing, i got killed.

Doncha hate that--when you realize later what the answer is! Wishing you good luck on AIM--it's too bad that they take so long to notify. We need to be looking at plane tickets!

which reminds me of another question, where are all you AIM applicants coming from? SF here

CO here--we know, little water and no coast... ;-)

AIM application deadline has been extended from 15 April to 22 April.

looks like we will have time to send in SAT results.

That's interesting--they extended it last year too. The reason given was that they had one more big Academy Day in Denver. I hope this doesn't mean that they haven't started looking at them yet. If my dd is in, we still need to be getting plane tickets! We'll have to send a copy to her auxilary officer--assuming she didn't drop down! Glad to hear that you will have time to send your new ones in. It was a pain to take that extra Dec test, but it turned out nice to have...

kinda sounds like theyre trying to get more applications in. along with the information that they postponed it, was information about how "its not too late to apply for this great opportunity"

I can't imagine a student trying to pull together that complicated application in just a few days--whew! It's odd where CGA is rolling (after EA) that they would be the slowest to notify about SS... Just musing here...

on the 26th im going to Yerba Buena Island for Coast Guard Satellite day... it looks awesome. They're going to have a demonstration of a rescue with helicopters, and there is going to be a cutter tour and cutter ride i think... unfortunately it starts early and i have to drive a while to get there... worth it :)

i just got an email from the Soccer Coach, asking for my accomplishments as a soccer player and everything. he says he wants to see if im right for the team. on my AIM application i put down that i wanted to play soccer while there, but i meant intramural... im not god's gift to soccer. it was sent from the admissions email address and asked me to send it to the coach (the email itself was "signed" by him).

did anybody else get these? would it hurt to just not respond? theres a space for SAT results so i figure i'll wait a week to reply if i do.

It's best to be honest with him...these things can come back to haunt you. I also was contacted by track and football coaches. I'm no superstar in any sport but I gave them my honest stats and got an appointment. I believe if they see a sport listed on your app. they contact you. If you appeal to them, they can put in a good word to the admissions board for you. I assume this works with AIM as well. Good luck!

Taffy, how did Yerba Buena go? I'll bet it was a blast! I looked at the AIM site--it's still says deadline is the 15th. Waiting impatiently here...

im going on the 16th (this coming saturday) im looking foreward to it :-D
