I still haven’t received an email…
@Harryp17 Maybe it’s just hard for them to get out 186000+ e-mails all at once They had trouble with the servers when the apps were due, and I wasn’t able to access the semifinalist portal for half an hour just now, like the link was broken or something (I have since been able to get on). I’m sure you’ll get notice soon!
Semifinalist!
Made semis!
Not a semifinalist, but congrats to everyone who did make it to that level. Best of luck to you guys in the future!

Rejected… Does anyone know how many semifinalists they typically choose?
@fedfan1998 I fully understand your pain! I have 21 extracurriculars, 16 state titles, over 1k service hours, ample leadership roles and other awards, 3 jobs, stellar academics… but haven’t got a email. I did read somewhere that the first round was computer picked, humans did not review the applications!! I’m trying to find comfort in the fact that it was computer picked… congrats to all those who advanced though!!
@Bwcoleman222 On the semifinalist portal it says less than 2,000.
How many people applied? It says 87,000 in the email, but it said 187,000 on the website at one point.
I think 187,000. That’s what it said on the website and the portal for semifinalists
"Congratulations on your selection as a 2017 Coca-Cola Scholar Semifinalist!
Fewer than 2,000 Semifinalists were chosen from our pool of nearly 187,000 online applicants - this is a big deal! Your selection speaks to your excellent academics and commitment to service and leadership in your school and in your community.
We are excited for you to continue through the selection process."
Yeah I think it must have been a typo then…
187,000 people started applications, while 87,000 people actually submitted complete applications.
To clarify, my time stamp was 7:30 PM EST, plus or minus a minute.
Do you guys think this is significant enough to tell our regional college admissions officers about for applications we already submitted for early action and/or early decision?
