Coca-Cola Scholarship 2017-2018 Semifinalists

@cambellssoup I think you’re confusing two different parts of the application. The secondary school report form says principal or counselor, and the personal recommendation is for a teacher. They are two separate sections of the application

@ballin2022 copy and paste from personal rec: “Upon your submission, an email request will be sent within 5 minutes for the completion of your secondary school report form. Please be sure to contact this person to ensure that they have received and completed this request.” should i just put in my teacher anyway?

@cambellssoup @ballin2022 Actually cambellssoup I sent that same question to them early this morning and have yet to hear back. You are correct - on the page for “Personal Recommendation”, it first says you can choose a teacher, counselor, or school official- but then the language on that page reverts back to mentioning the Secondary School Report (almost as if they forgot to change the text) and by the time they ask you to enter the name, they tell you to enter either the Counselor or Principal - same terms they used on the Secondary School Report request. I took a screenshot of the page and sent them this question just to clarify. I will post a reply when I receive it.

@Southern5062 thanks so much!!

@Southern5062 @cambellssoup Hmm that’s weird, I don’t remember that being there when I sent my emails out last week

@ballin2022 @cambellssoup - Just recceived a reply from them. They did not adddress that the wording may have been in error etc - They simply said (quoted below)
…“Using a teacher to complete this form is totally acceptable.”
So - that’s all we know!

@Southern5062 interesting. i’ll just put her in and hope for the best!

Hey guys, do any of you know what the “Professional Recommender” is asked to do, once they receive the link? Do they write an open letter and upload it, or answer specific questions then maybe add some open text, or what? Before I ask mine, I want to give them an idea of what it involves. Any help is appreciated. @CourtneyThurston you may know the sepcifics on this!

@Southern5062 both of my recommenders completed the file last week, and they say it involved 4 different short essay questions. They did not, however, tell me the questions. I assume that they split up the letters they had written for me and added parts of them to each potential portal.

@univbound101 THANK YOU!

When will we hear about regional finalist and will they send an email?

@PBJatlanta Late February is what I am showing. Email is my guess since that is how they’ve done before.

In mid November, my daughter received a congratulations email that you are a semifinalist from The Coca Cola Scholars Foundation. She completed all the essays and secured letters of rec and submitted everything on time. Today, she received another email from Liberty Coca Cola Beverages (different from first email) congratulating her again on semifinalist status. Did anyone else get something similar? I’m wondering if this means it’s the end of the road for her or if it might be a good sign (fingers crossed) I looked back at previous CC threads and wasn’t able to find anything referencing a second letter congratulating on semifinalist status…thoughts?

@rphmom8 I didn’t receive anything. Looking online, it seems that Liberty Cola Cola is the local bottling franchisee for the NYC / NJ / Philly area. Are you perhaps in that area? Maybe just a ‘congratulations’ acknowledgement from the local franchisee / bottler? Did it ask her to do anything, or just ‘congratulations’? Acc. to the scholarship timeline, the next notifications aren’t until late February.

@Southern5062 I think you are probably right and yes we are in that area.

Everyone login to your portal and see if you have any message

@jeffrandell Did you get a message? If so, what did it pertain to?

No I didn’t but sometimes they update the portal before sending out the email.

Is anyone able to get into their portal? Mine keeps saying authorization failed.

Mine too; my portal also says authorization failed.
