COE supplement idea?

<p>The supplement for College of Engineering is: "Tell us about an engineering idea you have, or about your interest in engineering. Describe how your ideas and interests may be realized by - and linked to - specific resources within the College of Engineering. Finally, explain what a Cornell Engineering education will enable you to accomplish." </p>

<p>I had a great engineering idea...except on a quick google search, it turns out that people are already working on that idea. Is it still appropriate to use on my essay? I'm afraid that the admissions counselors will think i'm just copying from a website.</p>

<p>I think it’ll be fine that the idea is used more than once. You’ll want to be careful though, don’t say anything that’s generic or that someone else could’ve said. Keep in mind that admissions will be reading 1000’s of essays, so even if the idea is the same as others make sure your essay is personal and shows who you are, that’ll separate yourself from the other applicants.</p>
