Hi everyone!
I just submitted my application for Colby (regular decision)
My GPA was 3.6 (unweighted)
Ranked top in my class
Submitted two teacher recs
I submitted my application with a 1390 new SAT score. My essay was pretty strong and so were my extracurriculars. I just wanted to know my chances and if anyone has heard of people with my GPA and SAT score getting accepted. Colby is one of my top choice schools. Please get back to me…
Sounds like you got a decent chance at Colby! if you switch you application to ED2 I’d say you have a strong chance. But Colby is a small school so a lot of admissions decisions is based on what the college needs that year so the RD pool can be random. But you definitely have a solid shot!!
A lot depends if you need financial aid. My daughter had 1450 new SAT, 3.85 Unweighted with 8 ap’s and got deferred early decision and then denied, but she needed a good amount of financial aid. My guess is if you are not full pay, you may not get in. People with your SAT’s and GPA do get in, if they are recruited athletes.
I would agree with @Akqj10 - given Colby is need aware, being full pay or being a hooked applicant could tip the scale; otherwise, it’s very uncertain like every other highly selective school - our DD’s had 35 ACT’s, 3.85 UW / 4.3 W GPA with 6-7 AP’s, one was a recruited athlete, and they both were accepted during RD but in the end they both chose a different NESCAC.
@TryHard44 @Akqj10 @Chembiodad I was admitted as a Bunche Scholar with a generous financial aid package.
