hey everyone, does anyone know the acceptance rate from Colby’s waitlist in the past years? seems like a great school and would be awesome if i could soon get off the WL
@acedang11 if you google common data sets Colby College you’ll find a document with that info for 16-17. They don’t have it for last year.
In 2015, 42 people got off the waitlist and 634 accepted a spot on the WL. So it had a 6.6% acceptance rate. @acedang11
how can that be true? 1370 SAT, 3.7 GPA

Acceptance rate= 9.5%
that’s crazy…it’s halved in 3 years time
Wow. I’m actually a little proud now that I was waitlisted
Wow!!
These stats are insane!
Bowdoin had 9500 applications roughly. So, Colby has significantly higher number applicants. Will be interesting to see what Bowdoin, Williams, Amherst, Midd acceptance rates are.
Proud to say I was accepted attending will be difficult given the lack of grant money received :(…
waitlisted
32 act, 4.0 uw gpa, URM, National Hispanic Scholar
23 dual enrollment credits,
Varsity Scholars bowl captain, science olympiad state qualifier, national honors society, class secretary, concert band, pep band, marching band.
Based the number of applicants ultimately accepted last year, it seems that Colby might register an ~12% acceptance rate this year after waiting list applicants have been admitted.
I agree, I think having been over-enrolled the last couple of years, that maybe they were “shy” on admittance and “heavy” on waitlisting this time around.
That said, those on the waitlist should let Colby know if they are still interested, but then move on and not get their hopes up…
accepted
international applicant, HS out of US
1550 SAT, gpa unprovided but mostly A/7(IB)s with one B in a minor course
graphic design, robotics, student government, and some sports
honestly I don’t even remember what I put on CA now lollll
Just yesterday Colby visited my school again, and I went to say hello. The AO seemed super nice and mentioned that Colby has free skiing lessons that all transport/equipment fees are covered. Sounds really great but also kinda funny cuz I think she was trying to lead the conversation away from my question on how cold Maine is for real. I live in Beijing so guess that’s a huge thing to consider
@vikiii I think the cold in Maine becomes a state of mind. I am always amazed to see the students in shorts and flip slop even in the winter. My son NEVER wears a coat – he just layers up and goes out. Colby is a wonderful school. Congratulations!
Waterville tends to register temperatures about 5 °C colder than Beijing on typical January mornings, @vikiii.
And if Colby’s January cold isn’t your thing, you can take a Jan-plan somewhere warm.
When will Colby mail the acceptance letter by UPS?
