cold?

Well, I live in CT, and I've always been able (albeit barely) to deal with the cold. Anyway, I want to study journalism, and among many other schools I am applying to Syracuse and Ithaca.
Now with this lovely weather we've been having, I've been thinking half-jokingly about getting out of the area. But should I be serious? How much colder does it get? How big a factor is the weather? Does Newhouse make it worth it? (Ithaca is a safety).
Other schools that I am applying to are in MA, OH, MO, DC, and Chicago...which I know also gets pretty cold but which I love

DC gets very little snow. When DC first got some serious storms, it would just shut down the city. Now, I think they've gotten some snow equipment, but a nor'easter that will not even dent a NE city will still throw them a curve ball. The snow does disappear, and spring comes quickly.

Depending on where in MO you're looking, the weather map does show lows curving downward from the Chicago area on occasion. Even though it can get hot there in the summer, the winter cold is not diminished by off-shore humidity found on the East Coast.

Just my two cents' worth.

All those places will get snow...

but I bet you're used to it all except maybe Chicago, that place has harsh windchill.
