Cold

So, right now the wind chill in Ithaca is 4 degrees.

How the hell do you guys deal with that!

lol I don’t think it’s that bad. If you have good winter gear, it’s fine.

It was -2 last night with wind chill where I’m going to grad school. You deal with it.

People make way too big a deal out of cold weather.

^so he goes to a t25 med school where it was -2 last night

Obviously not a CA school :-/

my guess is dartmouth med school

Dang…that rules out the guess I made over the summer

As for the weather, like others mentioned, it’s fine so long as you have good winter gear. I grew up in Upstate NY, so winter was never a huge deal for me. Of course, now when it drops to the 50s in New Orleans, I refuse to go outside :D

In my opinion, cold weather is easier to tolerate than the blisteringly hot places I come from. You can always add another layer, but there’s only so much you can take off…before violating exposure laws.

I must admit it factors into some choices I make, like where to eat a meal or if I want to go to the library. generally I just wear a scarf and good gloves and deal. I grew up in this weather too so it’s no shocker.

^ lol same. Living in Balch and grabbing lunch at Tatkon is much warmer than the two minutes it takes to get to Appel or RPCC xD

2 minutes? what are you doing? rolling down the walkway?

somni, I’m not sure if you’re saying 2 minutes is too slow or too fast. It seems about right for the walk from Balch to RPCC.

Before I was accepted ED to Cornell, I made a similar post on the Michigan board:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-michigan-ann-arbor/822296-how-do-you-deal-cold-long-dark-depressing-winters.html

um, nope. that would be segway kid.

it doesn’t take THAT long to get to the dining halls if you walk at a decent pace. maybe it’s 3 minutes, idk. unless you’re saying that 2 minutes is too slow? lol.

The cold isn’t that bad. Yes I love cold weather, but I’m from Texas and it’s definitely not bad. Get a good coat, like a nice ski parka and some boots for walking through snow and slush.

Yes it’s a little weird getting out of class at 4:30 and it’s almost dark, but I kind of enjoy it because it feels like night, so I go hang out in my room for a while and man do I feel like it’s getting late so I should start my homework and then Oh, it’s only 7pm, lol.

Well I was implying that 2 minutes is slow. I wouldn’t know, I don’t (and Im not allowed to) live in Balch. It’s not relevant anyway.
