Colgate already releasing RD results??

Hey guys I'm a 2012 international applicant
why are there already two people admitted by Colgate in RD?
Is Colgate already releasing its RD results?

They probably are EDII people...Also I know a kid who is an athlete who has signed a letter of intent to play football there.

Yes it's EDII. I have a friend who did that last year.

Colgate does send some early regular decision acceptances to AMS (Alumni Memorial Scholars) winners, starting around the end of February. Not sure if the two students you are referring to above are AMS or not.

last year they sent the ams around feb 26th so we are looking at maybe next week.

Itranslate, r u a Chinese?
yep, two Chinese got in during ED2, while most of us regard that as RD offers

I just got a letter this morning saying I've been accepted AMS and I applied RD.

Congrats!!

Congratulations maguni! Did you get a letter in your e-mail or post?

I got my AMS letter today, too, in New Orleans! I am so excited! except that the only financial aid I got was free room and board for being an AMS...

Congrats. When do the "normal" RD decisions come out?

Whats AMS?

It stands for Alumni Memorial Scholarship, basically a grant that you can use to fund your own research of something that interests you. My guess is that most RD letters will go out at the end of next month.

I just got my acceptance letter today, too! I got that AMS thing also.

I got my acceptance today, too, also for AMS. Does anyone know if there are other benefits to being one of these besides money for summer research? The school gave me no financial aid (long story, but basically because of my mom remarrying it looks like we have a ton of money when actually none of it will go toward my or my brother's college education), so I was kind of hoping that some money came with this distinction.

I got AMS as well. Didn't even know the school offered such a thing.

Very happy about the decision; nice to know for sure you're going to college :)

bambee- Colgate doesn't give merit aid, so in terms of financial aid, the AMS designation really only means the school will give all of its need based-aid in the form of grants - no loans, with the exception of Stafford. D is AMS (a junior), and we've found the aid to be generous.

Dad of B&G, that's my understanding, which is why I was surprised to see the reference to "free room and board" further up in this thread.

jrpar - I can only assume that post referred to a FA package equivalent to the cost of room & board. Colgate's EFC was the lowest of the schools D got into, and it has continued to provide a good package to her.

My d is a sophmore and AMS. They have special functions and speakers during the year. There is a new coordinator and they are going to NYC or DC this year. She hasn't taken advantage of it very much so there might be more. She's planning on using the $$ when she goes jr year abroad next year.
