Sort of an irrelevant thread, but humor me! I was just sitting at dinner with some people. Random Junior Girl was discussing her college plans for next year and mentioned that her counselor said if she applied to Colgate University, Hamilton College, and St. Lawrence University she would get into at least one. Now it struck me as strange to hear SLU grouped with Colgate and Hamilton; although it's a fine school, it seems much less selective than Colgate and Hamilton. I basically said that and got shot down with some remark about how "SAT scores aren't everything" (yeah, preaching to the converted). So what's the story? Is St. Lawrence perceived as very prestigious among certain circles, and I'm just not in the know? What do you think?

ive never heard of st lawrence and i am extremely familiar with northeastern schools similar to colgate and hamilton
