I'm trying to decide between these schools but I'm completely lost. I'm majoring in bio or molecular bio and want to go to med school or genetic engineering (I haven't decided yet). If I decide to go for genetic engineering i'd probably transfer out my sophomore year for a college that has bioengineering. Which of these schools do you think would be the better choice to for bio/premed or transferring if need be? which is harder and which is better academically?

instead of asking what is “better” for premed, you should look up some BME colleges and see what coursework that they require for transfer students. Then look at the curriculum at BC and Colgate and see which school would enable you to take the courses required for transfer. Perhaps neither school would be “better” under that scenario.

I’m not going for bme, just bioengineering. Both schools are essentially the same in that respect because they’re both liberal arts and neither offers any engineering major.

yeah, I know about both schools. So the (obvious) question is why you would want to attend either if you really desire an engineering program? Besides Calc & Chem, no other courses are relevant.

BC has a Core, for example, which will require you to take plenty of readin’ & writin’ courses – only a few of which are relevant to Engineering. (Most engineering programs are jam-packed with STEM courses, with few options for electives.)

Well I hadn’t realized I wanted to go into engineering when I applied to schools and I’m either going engineering or premed/molecularbio. I also have a lot of ap credits so most of my core would be finished at either school. I just want to know which is a better choice I may transfer anyways so I want to enjoy myself there but still get good grades relatively easy so that I have a high gpa when I go to transfer.
