Colgate and Vassar are very different schools. You should visit both and pick the one you prefer.

The accident 5 years ago also led to the closing of one of the major bars downtown, which used to be extremely out of control. The drinking reputation of Colgate is not nearly as deserved as it was 5 years ago.

Hamilton is one of the best places for creative writing.

vassar is waaay more hippie/democrat/birkenstocky than colgate, which tends to be pretty preppy.

How about P.Sc major? I heard it's strong at both Vassar n' Colgate. Is it true?

Poli sci is very strong at Colgate - it's also one of the most popular majors. I don't know what it's like at Vassar.

Look at the Hamilton forum for my answer to this thread. In short, both are excellent schools but with different campus cultures. Whatever choice you make will be the right one.

naw, if you go to hamilton your making the wrong one.

naw, if you go to hamilton your making the wrong one.}}

Why?

Colgate and Vassar are very different schools}

Vassar has 16% more women than men. And having had an acquaintance who recently graduate from Vassar, I can tell you her # 1 complaint was finding *straight * men to date can be a challenge. The m to f ratio at Colgate is 50-50...Colgate also has unbelievable college spirit regarding their spots teams. And they should, theyre good! Vassar doesnt even have a football team.
Otoh- Vassar is very good in the Arts. Id compare Vassar more to Hampshire college. Colgate more to Dartmouth.

Vassar doesn't have a greek stystem either, if that's of interest to you.

a colgate student wouldn't be caught dead going to hamilton. a hamilton student is endlessly envious of colgate. there is a serious inferiority complex at haimlton. it's pretty clear. and dunkin donuts in clinton doesnt qualify as more to do.

If the above is true why did i find admitted students debating between Colgate and Hamilton on my visititation day.
Your blasphemy is just a plow, the schools are both awesome.

What you just said sounds like someone saying, "A student applying to University of Chicago wouldn't be caught dead at wesleyan."

We all know that's bs...

TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE TRUTH

colgate is much better than hamilton in every thing a person looks for in colleges; i cant believe ur even debating this decision.

A chacun son gout.
You're an ignoramus for making the statement you just made stonecold. Sorry buddy, it's the truth :-)

ridethecliche, ur ignorant for comparing hamilton to colgate

Please, spare me!

I just think that in most quantifiable ways (academic repuation, acceptance rate, name recognition, job and grad school placement, campus) that Colgate is better. I could see fit entering into the equation, though as most people I've seen seem to strongly prefer one over the other. And this is coming from someone who went to Colgate that had never heard of Hamilton until getting to Colgate. I did actually know a set of identical twins where one went to Colgate and the other to Hamilton.

a colgate student wouldn't be caught dead going to hamilton.]]

An elitist at such a young age. Im impressed. Your parents did well. :)

who says i'm young? i've probably got a few years on you.

please note - i never said one was better than the other. i'm just stating the truth, which is: colgate students look down on hamilton and hamilton looks to colgate to find out what they should be doing next. inferiority complex, plain and simple.

and the claim that clinton has more to offer than hamilton (the village) is a joke. a dunkin donuts is really all clinton has on hamilton.

"who says i'm young? i've probably got a few years on you."
I wouldn't go that far, unless you like being referred to as gramps :-P

And for the record, truth tends to be very very subjective. I'd go on, but this isn't the place for philosophy.

As an ardent Colgate supporter, I wouldn't say Colgate students were looking down on Hamilton students (even if my friends had a Hamilton fraternity composite hanging on their wall). Guessing that I've met a lot more Hamilton grads than you, I wouldn't say that they have any type of inferiority complex either. The focus of the two schools is a fair amount different with the real only commonality being geography. I don't think either side is too concerned about any rivalry like you seem to perceive.
