If you didn’t get an email could you still get in
I’m still wondering if being a scholar means we get scholarship money…does anyone know?
The scholar programs are not actual scholarships, so no money. Just funding for research grants, but I believe it is totally independent of financial aid.
Colgate.edu describes the 2 “scholars” programs. Go there and then do a search.
Anyway, here is the link to Benton Scholars:

Go 'gate!
I am an international student and have asked for a lot of scholarships. I found my portal changed and displayed the message like one had said in the previous comments. I have not received any email yet. I am really scared.
@KentRex Don’t be, the bulk of decisions aren’t out yet.
Unless you are state school where you go entirely by the stats, I highly doubt that there are schools that do NOT weigh demonstrated interest. Since the yield rate (% of admitted students who enroll at that college) impacts a college’s rankings on US News, I am almost certain demonstrated interest is a factor. Colleges like admitting students who genuinely want to attend that school. Unfortunately for students, with so much that is arbitrary in the admissions decision, students have no choice but to apply to numerous schools, since they have no idea exactly what specific set of qualifications are desired in any given year by any given school. I think students should make an effort to visit the school, and learn as much about it. They may discover a new favorite.
@akin67 You are correct that most schools do weight demonstrated interest; however, Colgate does not consider demonstrated interest as an admission factor. I know this for a fact because at Colgate in Focus, admissions counselors held a meeting with the students and stated this with the explanation that many students don’t have the resources to visit, etc.
I heard that international students get their decision via email. Is this true?
@indiahyland Only those who got rejected. Accepted internationals get their letters by mail.
@indiahyland so basically pray that Colgate doesn’t email you on the 20th
so the decisions are released by mail, and not from the online portal?
I never got an email saying any of this…
@duffytdr its on the site
Ok so not great stats here- 1310 sat, ~3.7 GPA, but then since Colgate is not score choice, I had to send them my TERRIBLE sat II scores: 530 and 550… does this totally kill my chances? I’m an intl not asking for aid, tons of ec’s, decent essays.
Just coming out of three rejections, a Colgate acceptance would be really really nice.
I have a 35 ACT and a 3.7 GPA. I recently got rejected from BU, which was unexpected. Do I still have a chance at Colgate?
@laurclassof2021 you know you have an amazing chance…
Stats are such crap. Just wait and see what happens. I know people with crazy stats that get rejected from great schools that took other kids who didn’t have the stats but had other things. (tbh, they tended to have parents that were highly successful and could provide them with fantastic opportunities.) Just wait it out - packages are mailed in two days!!
I think my GPA is gonna ruin my chances lol. It’s pretty bad compared to other applicants.
im so nervous i have a 3.84 weighted and 2150 sat
