pyewacket,

Congrats on Brandeis! My D also loved the school and it was one of her top choices.

pyewacket -
is the acceptance envelope still big and blue? So glad to hear that your D is safely in! I think she will love it - the atmosphere is so alive and the academics top-notch.

Thanks for your congrats, don't know the color of the envelope yet, I am at work and had to talk D through the scary envelope opening by phone !

Congrats, Pyewacket--I know that doing this overseas really added to your stresses; glad it all worked out.

Cami-I keep checking on you; fingers crossed that that package arrives soon!!!

pyewacket, congratulations. Your daughter will have a great experience.

Carolyn:

New student move-in at Beloit is August 20. I'll be in Madison then so let's get together assuming no change of mind.

Pyewacket:

I just saw the good news. Congrats! I was at Brandeis a week or so ago. My, how it has changed since I was there! Lots more buildings, less grass. The profs I met were fabulous, the students engaged and smart. Your student will be in good company.

Not hot off the presses, but D was accepted at Wesleyan Ed.

She was originally headed to the Ivy ED sweepstakes (Brown), but her overnight at Wes (second visit) changed her mind. She's thrilled and we are happy for her.

I do confess, it would have been interesting to see how she did at her reach schools (Brown, Pomona), but she fell hard for Wes, and as she's an intellectual/artsy, English/creative writing type, with a burgeoning interest in film, Wes should indeed be a good place for her.

Wesdad,

Congratulations! A close friend's daughter (a legacy) loves it there. Now you can keep your screen name :)

The acceptance package went to a house on the wrong block. Just heard that D got accepted to Chicago.

So many wonderful acceptances.

Congratulations Pyewacket on your D's admission to Brandeis (I get a kick everytime I see your name. I am probably killing it trying to pronounce it :) )

WesDad- Welcome to the parents forum on CC and congrats on your D' admission to Wes.

EnochRoot, I can guess the waiting must have been frustrating but the important thing is the package got there and it had good news. Congrats to you and your D.

EnochRoot- Congratulations! Chicago is a fabulous school.

WesDad- congrats to your daughter about Wesleyean. I know how you feel - my DD was going to apply to Brown and some other Ivies as well (she's a double legacy at one), but she fell in love with NYU and wanted to use her ED application to "make sure" she got into NYU rather than apply to a reach school. At first I was disappointed she didn't try for an Ivy, but now that she is in NYU, and we see how thrilled she is, and how she "knows herself" and what will make her happy, we know she did exactly the right thing. These students who know exactly what they want - like your daughter - are very lucky, especially if they get it! Thee are very bright kids and wonderful professors at all these schools.

Wesdad:

Wes should indeed be a good fit for your D. Congrats. Enochroot, all's well that ends well!

EnochRoot -
OMG - what a story! Congrats from the parent of a first-year!

Pyewacket: Congratulations! :) Cami: Waiting with baited breath! Everyone else many many congrats to all on the acceptances!

Well, I came perilously close to throttling the poor mailman. Son had to restrain me. But he did get a nice fat packet on the doorstep for U Chicago so all is forgiven. I went shopping with my daughter and, when I came home, Son had a big silly grin on his face.....

Congrats to all the others! Wesdad - I think Wesleyan is such a fine school. I had encouraged son to apply there, but he had other ideas. :)

Pyewacket - Son's closest friend is at Brandeis. Friend was one of those kids who had their heart set on Harvard for no other reason than it was high in the rankings. He ended up at Brandeis and has fallen in love with the school. He especially likes the vibrant campus life, since he's very involved in politics.

Cami:

Woohoo! Wow. Wonderful news, at last!

ohio_mom, thanks. glad to hear your s likes chicago.

a big congrats to all on their acceptances..........chicago and other schools as well:)

very fun to watch the "big" list of acceptances grow "bigger and bigger"

Congrats to CamiSon! It was worth the wait!

Cami,

You see good things really do come to those who wait :) Congrats on sons admission to Chicago
