College Acceptances: celebrate here!

dg922 -- I've talked to a number of people regarding Michigan Tech. Everyone that goes there seems to love it! Many chose it over Univ of Michigan due to the small class sizes and individual attention. And I've been told it has a good reputation in the Engineering world.

Mezzomom--so happy to hear about yr D's Otterbein offer. We are visiting there in April--my D is not a music major but I like what I've heard and read about the school.

Hi! I'm a long-time lurker but new poster. Congratulations to everyone - such wonderful news for so many of our children! After a disappointing deferral from his first choice school, my son was thrilled to receive a letter of acceptance from Villanova EA (particularly nice as he had applied RD). Has certainly taken some of the pressure off for the next few months knowing that he is in somewhere that he can be happy. Now we are keeping our fingers crossed for their Presidential Scholarship!

Mum, Villanova is a terrific school. I'd never seen their campus until I visited last summer, and I was impressed with how beautiful it was. Congratulations to your son and best wishes for that Presidential Scholarship!

thanks, Carolyn! This was our second look at Villanova (S1 looked at it and applied as well), but were pleased to see that our impressions of three years ago were confirmed. Villanova is a beautiful school and has much to offer - not sure where S2 will end up yet but Villanova is a definite possibility. Thanks for the good wishes on the Presidential Scholarship - if it comes through, Villanova will be very difficult to pass up.

i just got a letter form depauw saying that I recieved a 11,000 dollar scholership a year from them! i was so excited, i go their acceptance a week or two ago and i thought that maybe i wasnt at the top of their list to give money to due to my low test score, but i guess not...im very happy! now its an option cuz now its somewhat do-able!

congrats to all so far!

I'm in shock. I can't believe it. My D just got accepted to U of Michigan. Can you see me dancing? I just called my husband out of meeting to tell him. And D doesn't even know yet !! I am so excited I can't stop smiling !

hayden, I am so happy for your and your family!!!

Hayden,

That is absolutely fantastic!! I can just see the dancing! Congrats to your D and to you!

hayden,

Congratulations, dance away. Then stop, because unless there was a big congratulations on the outside of the envelope, later today you will have to act as if you are hearing the news for the first time and start dancing again. But, this is one of those days where we don't mind if our feet are tired

Lulubelle,

Congrats on scholarships (That's the wonderful thing about blessings; they come when we least expect them)

Calcruzer, Smitty and Mum,

welcome and congrats on all of the great acceptances. This is such a great thread of good news !!

keep em coming, keep em comming

Congrats hayden and mum2boys! It's so great to hear all these positive things. Caroline - You must be soooo happy you are done, and with such great results.

For everyone with kids at Beloit and Goucher, please let us know how things go in the coming years. I have a daughter, several years younger, whom I think would like these schools and hope you'll continue to post your experiences.

I got into the University of Connecticut today! Go Huskies!!!!

Congratulations, mum2boys! I was also a lurker for a while before starting to post. While my d got into her 1st choice ED she also had a close 2nd EA that she would have been just as happy at.

Hayden CONGRATS! Some good choices there!

Congratulations Hayden, EarlyGraduate, and Mum2Boys! :)

Congrats earlygraduate and mum2boys ! And thanks so much andi, twinmom, cami and sybbie. (Sybbie - lol)

Does anyone else feel like me? I look at this incredible list of schools that everyone is entering. Thank goodness - what a long list we have now. And more to come - hopefully many more for all of us.

But I'm getting tired now. I feel as if I visited the same number of campuses as we have cummulatively on the whole list. Heard countless info sessions. Toured umpteen student unions/hubs/student centers, or whatever the school decides to call them. We toured each and every blessed one of them. With tired feet. In the rain. Or in the summer, wishing it would rain.

Do you realize how many dorm rooms all of us have slogged through in the past 18 months? I think we all spent the entire summer watching students walk backwards for heavens sake. What a way to live.

And now it's coming to a close, and I'm exhausted. After all this research, and anxiety - and with a month and a half left to go - at the end of it all, each student will choose a new home, and we'll rev up the energy to look forward once more. We'll pack them off to their choice. Then finally, after we've waved one more time, and put all the empty boxes back in the car, at last we'll be able to put our feet up, and only see people walking forward once more.

I think I may miss it. I sure know I'll miss her.

Congrats, everyone.

Ditto.....

ahh Hayden, you have said it all so well. This is my second and final time around in the process and come next fall I am looking at being an empty nester. Feel like the past 4 years of my life have been caught up with the college process with one or the other of my children - won't know what to do with all this extra time on my hands :-) It hasn't always been easy and Lord knows it has been exhausting, but it has been a gift to spend the time with my sons and watch with pride as they go through the process and make important decisions with true insight and level heads (often times better than mom). Going to be very quiet around the house come fall and I am going to miss him terribly, but hopefully all this trekking and planning will mean he ends up somewhere he will be happy for the next four years.

somebodynew & juana - congrats on USC and Earlham, respectively. Extremely cool!

Thanks, I didn't really believe I could bat 1.000 when it came to admissions, but it looks like that's probably gonna happen. Congrats for your D!
