Hayden ... I feel exactly the same way. Whoever thought that this would be such a process?!

We have toured 18 schools since last spring (well, honestly, there are just a few that only H toured or I toured with one child) and between my two kids, they applied to 16 of the 18 we toured ... plus a few that we just couldn't get to see. And, there were a couple that we went back to more than once to help finalize EA or ED choices!

We all feel that we could effectively give college tours ("Wait until you see all the different stations in the cafeteria ..."" We have over 200 student organizations and you can easily form your own ..." "And we even have a Simpsons club...")

Soon enough I will be an empty nester (if I ever get through sending all the supplemental financial aid stuff to 21 schools!)

I will miss them too, but, like you, I know that they are ready to move on.

I am so happy for all of our CC kids ... it's tough to make choices, but it's wonderful when choices are available to make.

A bit behind on my posting. Add Marquette (my alma mater ) two weeks ago with nice merit $$ from them and Clemson today to DD's list. Six for six. Waiting on UNC and UGA, as well as merit $$ from several she has already been accepted to.

Congrat to all the class of 2010ers! Redlands, Rice and many others.. so many great outcomes rolling in...nice about that Goucher scholarship, Carolyn. Cooper Union, jump back..wow. Eadad, ya'll did a wonderful plan..choosing will be the hard part. It is a good thing to see your alma mater seek out your D, too. UNC and UGA are both full of bright kids in enviably happy college towns..so good look choosing in the Spring.

DS received transfer acceptance to Miami of Ohio today. (FYI for those not in the loop, he is a Tulane Engineering student whose program is being phased out; thus a "forced" transfer).

Miami was not on his "short" list, but was on his initial list and he had submitted a rolling app before narrowing the list. I must say there is great relief in having an acceptance in hand, even to a super-safety. (That's what safeties are for, right ;)?)

Now, on to the waiting for others - many of which don't provide decisions until late May :(

we have never been mad at the thought of having a back up plan. It's a great feeling to be shown some love on love day. Right now we've got some love for Miami of Ohio:)

Congrats to son for having one securely in his pocket.

jmmom, congrats. Maybe since Miami did not fill its class last year and I know is actively trying to recruit for its new engineering program, they will throw some money to him. Lets hope!

Yes, Jmmom, we are pleased you can feel a sigh of OK then..re Miami..and we will not tire till we hear more good things in May for your son. What a year of high drama and real trauma for Tulane and what a trip for your boy it has been.
my son came home with mono at winter break..that is the "normal" kind of thing parents brace for. Who could have guessed the challenges of your son's freshman year..what he has witnessed, felt and absorbed and the mettle he showed when forced to transfer twice...you entered this zone as a family very gracefully and we are rooting for your guy.

jmmom,
Congrats on DS's acceptance to Miami of Ohio! What a road your family has traveled. Your family deserves a well-paved, well-lighted road from here on out!
