is it possible ??
interested in purdue
i'm from singapore btw

haven't taken my SATs yet, but i'll be doing that at the end of the year

i'm getting conflicting reports, one half saying that they ONLY look at SAT scores for college admissions and the other half saying that an A/O-level certificate is absolutely necessary for college admission.

If you plan to come to America, you better get used to the people who assume all Asians speak Chinese. Our reputation for being ignorant of the rest of the world is not overblown, I assure you.

I thought O-levels (at least in the UK) were replaced by GCSE exams and those are done (in US terms) at basically the end of 10th grade. Then, most students interested in university study go on to A-levels.

Are you in a British school in Singapore? Since you took the exams as a private candidate - what grade level are you in?

I have heard of people getting into colleges with just O-levels from Singapore, but only at schools like Purdue. For the most competitive schools, you probably need A-levels.

O Levels, equivalent to GCSE and IGCSE, are only equivalent to completion of Sophomore year in most cases. Unless of course your school is able to graduate you just with O Levels?

actually there are plenty of schools that give admission based on gce o levels. uiuc, purdue, isu and umich come to mind. no advanced standing is granted so you’ll be doing 4 years instead of 3. top schools like ivies and mit etc still need gce a levels.

Depends on your country- for somewhere like singapore you would likely need A-levels. Most of my friends had better options for applying to university when they came in with A-levels, than people who just stopped at O’levels. A lot of ivy league schools will not take u without A-levels except you are exceptional
