If I'm transferring to a four year university from one year of community college, do I get accepted into the program or major I choose that I put in my application? For example if I planned on transferring to study electrical engineering but didnt have all the prerequisites, I could still get accepted to the school to finish those prerequisites but would I be accepted into the program?

I could be wrong, but in most cases, if you are seeking a 4-year degree and have completed only one year thus far, you are simply applying to be accepted to the university. Your advisor will help you choose the classes that meet core requirements and prerequisites for the degree your are interested in. Typically at the end of your sophomore year, you will declare a major.

There are about 2500 universities and four-year colleges in the U.S. They don’t all have the same policies.

For a reliable answer to this kind of question, you need to read the web sites of the colleges you’re applying to, or ask the admissions people there.
