I need help in finding a college admissions advisor/counselor for D- preferably one who is located in the northwest. Is there a professional organization which vets its members? Thanks

I sent you a PM

The Independent Education Consultant's Association has very stringent requirements for it's members.

Keep in mind, you may not need the consultant to live in your area. He or she probably travels quite a bit to visit high schools and colleges--and your child probably only needs two or three face meetings. The rest can happen by email and editing software.

entomom, thanks loads for the PM
Cheers, I appreciate the link and yes, I guess there really is not a need for face to face meetings.

I have recently contacted a counselor for my S. I am very pleased with the quality of the intial contacts. Have to say, the feeling of relief I have to not have all the answers, or to understand the process, is well worth the investment already :).

Tutu, the services offered by College Confidential are very good. I found them responsive, intuitive and willing to help with the Big Issues and the most mundane. They communicate by e-mail and telephone so geographic location is not so important (unless you really want a face to face meeting).
