Hi everybody,
I need to write a college admission essay and don't know where to start. Do you have any valuable tips?
:(|)

So do you have any suggestions? What has worked for you?
How did you do you admissions essay great?

Thanks for the help!

“Write as you speak” is perhaps an overstatement. Better advice might be something like, “Don’t consciously lard your essay with vocabulary study words,” or, “Don’t write like a 19th century snob.”

Another useful tip: make it interesting to read for someone who has to reads hundreds of essays.

19th century snob is definitely not a good idea, fun though :))

@perseverence
That’s a tough job I think: to read hundreds of essays and choose ones that are truly great.

Any more ideas? ~O)

There are many books at the library about college admission essays. You may want to check it out there first.
If the essay is about you, make sure it will show your character and passion. If the essay is about the school or program (e.g. why this school or what do you expect to gain from this program), make sure you know the school and the program well. Give specific examples (e.g. a particular club or program you like or how does it different from other school) instead of writing a generic essay that you can use for multiple schools.
