College Admissions Juggernaut!

So, CC'ers, what kind of resume do you think would constitute a college admissions juggernaut? RSI? TASP? Intel? ALL OF THE ABOVE?

And has anyone actually been crazy enough to apply to all the Ivies and actually get into all of them?

I remember reading about a person on cc that got into all ivies + Stanford and a few others. I think his screen name is tchiem.

Tons of people get into all Ivies + Stanford + everywhere else good. One I know of got into every school she applied to (10+ of the best in the country), full rides to Caltech and U Chicago (not your typical state schools who give out scholarships like candy...)

She was: USA-Today High School First Team (15 in the country), Presidential Scholar, Coca-Cola Scholar, [insert other amazing scholar thing here x 10000]... nationally-ranked debater, international awards in piano, international awards in science/research (Intel? Siemens?), tons of ECs in high school including newspaper editor-in-chief, varsity tennis, and Forensics president... I think she went to RSI... yes, a juggernaut.

She also had, of course, over a dozen APs (all 5's), a 4.0, and a 1600. This was back in the day when Harvard was EA, not SCEA.

Ethnicity: Asian.
Location: Harvard, Cambridge, MA.
Legend: FOREVER.

wow... that's unbelievable

I know a girl that would definitely get into all of the above
she only applied to two schools
Duke and Yale
accepted to both

100k plus scholarship from Duke
Coca-Cola Scholarship
tons of other awards and the sort
IB Diploma
Valedictorian of Myers Park HS when it was ranked 7th in the country

I think "Admissions Juggernaut" simply fails to describe such people... I would call them "Life Juggernauts."

And I'm terrified - terrified - of meeting hundreds of them in college and getting trampled. These people are scary...

I wouldn't call them scary so much as people who work hard. I'm nowhere near their caliber, but I admit that there were thousands of hours where I could have read books instead of watched TV, played video games, talked with friends, etc... Calling them scary is only an excuse for our own lack of commitment.

It depends on where your priorities are in life.
Do you want to get all those scholarships and be admitted to every single ivy? Do you want to take 15 APs and spend the rest of your day practicing piano? Or do you want to live in the day and have fun, which includes watching TV, playing video games, hanging out with friends... I would prefer the latter.

there are those people who use their time so wisely and do what they love while still challenging themselves in academics

it's scary... not the people... but the fact that they do this and most of us cannot imagine it

You're right; I do have trouble imagining it. I really find it difficult to comprehend why an applicant would apply to all eight Ivies when they're so completely different. As for Myers Park, I'll withhold my comments.
