college admissions

hey people, I know all you incoming seniors are anxious about colleges, and I am too
BUT I think that we need to think about some of the more challenging things in life that may come up, years ahead from now
I mean think about it

why worry and freak out about scoring that 2300 on the SATs or winning that award so much when you have worse things coming up later in your life, like bearing the burden of seeing your parents or siblings die, bearing the pain of watching yourself die, or even regretting letting that person you love go? you don’t need a head start…
life is gonna suck, so you might as well as enjoy your last year in high school, caz it’s nowhere as bad as it’s gonna get later

That kind of attitude isn't appreciated or well-received. We shouldn't work hard because we're going to die eventually? What is that? Who lives like that?

At least, who lives like that and actually tries to convince others?

park, that's the equivalent of saying, "Since we're all destined to die from the minute we're born, we might as well shoot ourselves, at at least have outselves shot."

i think pessimistic is an understatement in your case.

I think what you're trying to say is that we should look at all this is in bigger scheme of things, with which I agree.

Thank you for that uplifting message park5378 but since I don't really plan on doing those things until later in life, I'm going to focus on my upcoming challenge, and try and make something of my life before my death and the death of everyone I love.

awesome!
this is exactly the kind of response I was looking for!
it's no wonder you all suck at handling rejections...
it's caz you are all living in one!

I'm living a life of rejection? How could you possibly know that, I don't tell anyone that! anyway j/k, park just get a life. If you must know, yes you will die. I will die and so will everyone on this board. My parents will die, my siblings will die, everybody I know will die. This is not something new. People have been dying since the beginning of time.

this is so funny
how everyone gets so antsy the minute I start talking about death
and if you are not living a life of rejection that's really great
I can see that you are handling it quite well

Oh. My. God. Is that sarcasm coming from someone who takes life so seriously and talks about ::gasp:: death! all the time??

not really
it wasn't much of a sarcasm but I'm glad you perceived it that way
you know, I suppose I should stop posting these messages but oh this getting too much fun!

tempus fugit, carpe diem

park, are you trying to get everyone all riled up, or are you trying to get us to think? B/c I can kinda understand where you're coming from . . . "BUT I think that we need to think about some of the more challenging things in life that may come up, years ahead from now"
Yes, there are more important things than college, however, I also don't think that we need to dwell on death.

Man, you've got it made park5378! With an attitude that depressing you can be a democratic candidate for president. Just need to direct some of that bleeding. A little bit for others, a little less for self and you are elected on either coast.

Life is about ambitions, goals and aspirations. I plan to die well off not living in some box making 30,000 a year because refused to work and decided to enjoy every second of my goalless existence. Most people live for something, instead of advising the rest of us... take a little time and decide what you want from it.
