I saw a graphical about "How manay colleges being applied". I was wondering it would be good to see a graph as to what is the status of applicants applications. I do not know all the stages but a couple of stages are:
a) Writing Essays
b) Essay Reviews happening
c) Filled-in common App
d) Filled-in for X number of colleges and submitted

etc., etc. does it make any sense?

One positive outcome I thought would be if my daughter sees that 60% of the students have already finished their essays, she will do it faster!

Well if my daughter cared what the folks at CC were doing, she'd be here and not me. She only seems motivated to keep up with her "real world" friends. Sigh. Fortunately they are good kids. I did get her to start the common app this summer and it's almost done, and she turned in requests for the school forms yesterday. Other good news is that her English class is working on college app essays this month.

your daughter is done with common app? that's great! we haven't started yet!
and yes, it's here same for my daughter too - her english class is doing the essay. My daughter has begun.

May be I can send you the draft essay if you have time and like to read?

Over 3.2 million essays (minimum) will be produced this year!

My D is applying to most schools EA, meaning deadlines are looming! But she likes the idea of being done and having a chance to enjoy senior year. So status is:
_4 essays completed, 2 more to go
_Waiting for college prof friend to review them (you are so lucky your kids are getting to do them at school!!!)
_Needs to do short answer responses for Common App and 3 non-Common App schools
_Has filled in all the blanks on all apps
_Has all letters of rec from teachers & GC, waiting for one from a college prof she had last summer
_Sent ACT scores and transcripts to all schools
_Paid app fees for 2 schools
_Filled out pre-application/state resident forms where required
_One application completed and submitted with all supplemental materials!!!! (1 down, 8 more to go!)

Not to brag, but I'm pretty proud of her progress! Last year my other D waited until the last minute for some of her schools and was running to catch the Fed Ex guy to mail her supplements by the deadlines.

Almost; she is also trying to meet early deadlines for merit money BUT, and it's a big but, she is NOT done with supplements. Then there are the UC (U of Cal) app...I know there is a common app thread, but since we're on the subject, do the supplements lock when the app locks ( when you send out the first one)?
