oh my sweet baby jesus! am i stressed! I'm getting this overwhelming feeling that I just simply won't get accpeted ANYWHERE. I mean I have awesome grades, a 3.9, third in my class, and a ton of extracurriculars, but my downfall occurs at my SATS. My scores are less than to be desired (combined score 1110). Can I still be qualified enough for places like NYU, or Notre Dame? Also, sometimes I feel like colleges (especially the impressive ones) are so intimidating. I mean, I feel like you have to be the next Steve Jobbs to get accepted! anyone feel the same as I do? can anyone help?

First of all, take a deep breath. (:
I’ve definitely been in your shoes! I think everyone gets a little frazzled when thinking about colleges, especially if they’re aiming for impressive schools. I think everyone doubts their admission chances sometimes.
Have you tried taking the ACT? Some people find it much easier and score higher than they do on the SAT. Practice tests and reading books can help raise your score.
You should also find some safeties that you like, just in case you aren’t able to attend your first choice.

ur not gonna get in with an 1110. that tells the colege ur the kind of kid who spends all their time studying, but at the end of the day isn’t naturally smart. that sat’s gotta get fixed or ur gonna have to settle on a worse school.

The point is that you’re willing to study all day to do well in school which is way more important, but your SAT will hold you back … Is that out of 1600, because then it’s completely fine, if not, you’re in for a very rough time getting accepted to college! I’m in the same place you are, by the way! Good luck!

I typically dont study all that much. And so I did the same for the Sat’s…didn’t study all that much. Sooo i guess I should get practicing. And I did schedule an ACT, so i hope that pans out well. And yes, out of 1600!

OOH! Thank goodness! THen don’t worry so much about it! If you don’t do as well on SAT/ACT as you think you should, a college won’t hold it against you!

1110/1600 is very poor. and @lexieam willing to study all day wont do muhc in the real world. it comes down to natural smarts and intelligence.

u can probget into like rutgers or somehting, though

This girl/guy is the third in her/his class! It should be just fine! Hard work and effort are the cornerstones of America! Just because you’re not the next boy genius doesn’t mean you are locked out of great schools, it means you need to try a little harder, and with a 90 GPA delmonico, I wouldn’t talk about hard work or raw smarts … :)

Look at a few test-optional colleges/universities? If you feel that your SATs are your biggest downfall, then having them be a non-issue would be the best plan.

I do have a few safeties lined up. I just like to keep options open, especially yearning for your “wedding-dress” feeling in a college. Appreciate all the feedback! merci beaucoup!
