what to write on the common app for the briefly elaborate on one of your extracurriculars or work experiences

I already have an essay written about my biggest passion which is gymnastics for the esssay portion and am wondering if it would look bad if I also wrote about gymnastics for the briefly elaborate on one of your extracurriculars or work experiences part?

I will be applying to Smith College this fall as early decision.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Keke,

It’s great that your main essay conveys your passion for gymnastics. You should not write about the same subject for your Activity Essay. Choose another activity. Your Activity Essay (which is really just a paragraph) can be written on anything you do outside of the classroom. So, while many people write about organized activities, such as soccer team, drama club, school newspaper, church choir, etc, it’s also acceptable to write about knitting, Sudoko, journal writing, building models, or anything else that you do on your own.

In general, avoid repeating yourself in your applications. You on;y have so many chances to show who you are - use each one to it’s best advantage to show a new facet of yourself.

Good luck with your applications!

^ in addition to what they said, doesn’t the question state that you shouldn’t repeat yourself? Or am I thinking that subconsciously.
