MISCELLANEOUS

  • due to health complications at the end of my junior year, I had to take a step back in my level of involvement with my extracurriculars, so that is why I no longer hold a leadership position in any club. I noted this in my Common App.
    • my personal essay talks strongly of my love of reading and social justice + i think my extracurriculars are in alignment with my expressed interest

SCHOOLS (no particular order)

Pomona
Haverford
UMich
Kalamazoo College
Central Michigan University
Smith
Wellesley
University of Toronto
University of Washington - Seattle

What is your SAT breakdown? Have you run the price calculators on the school websites on all the schools on your list? Are you in-state for Michigan?

I’d say Central is a safety, as I’m sure you know. Kalamazoo and Smith are matches. Haverford is a low reach. Wellesley and Michigan are reaches. Pomona is a high reach. Can’t say about Toronto. Is UWash affordable from OOS?

@intparent

680 Math/ 740 Reading - obviously I need to get my math score up.

I’ve run some of the price calculators, not all. My financial situation, in combination with most of the schools I’m really interested in meeting all financial need, is partly why I haven’t run the calculators for all of them. I shouldn’t be complacent though, and will do the remaining net calculators. I am in state for MI.

I have a hard time thinking UMich is a far reach for you given that you are in state with very strong grades and scores and AP rigor. If you want a couple more in state safeties add MSU, GVSU, and Western. I think Western much stronger than CMU.

Have you looked at Dickinson? Would maybe give you better aid than Kzoo.
