College Applications: What's good?

Hello, I am new to CC and have a few questions about college admissions and how I can improve my chances into getting into top schools.

I am going to be a junior this upcoming school year. I’d like to know what EC’s/activities I could do to help boost my application?

I’m currently looking at the very top schools in the country, including Ivies. I am also considering 6/7 year fast track medical school programs. I am most likely going to go into the medical field but have been told it is best to apply ED and as Undecided.

Currently the best thing I have going for me is that my GPA is 4.0 Unweighted and 4.375 Weighted. And my class rank is 1 out of over 630+ (however my class size may drop significantly by the time I graduate).

Here is an overview of EC’s:

Vice President of DECA (business/marketing organization)
2 Years playing JV Volleyball
National Honor Society Member
Key Club Member
-(attended annual regionall Key Club convention in long beach- does this even count for anything lol?)
DECA Quiz Bowl Captain (Won District, Competed in State)
Will attend NYLC (National Youth Leadership Conference) on Saturday!

I know this isn’t sufficient due to most Ivie league applicants do genetic research and write novels. So I was wondering how I can boost my application to be competitive. Here are some ideas/plans I have:

-Plan on volunteering at Hospital. (should I also check the library?)
-Start a club. (Have many ideas on what, but what it would look good to say that I’m President and Founder of “XYZ” club. Should I start it this year or next?)
-Tutor in Math (I am a strong math student especially in Geometry)

 • Join clubs such as Science Bowl, Mu alpha Theta, STATUS (a club against youth substance abuse), etc.

Would these be good? What else would help?

I am yet to take my SAT, SAT II’s, or any AP’s. However I’m preparing rigrously for them and plan to do extremely well. Should I even consider the ACT?

I know that I don’t know too much about college apps so any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

I'm guessing your strengths are science and math? If so... do a project and compete in the intel or siemens competition.

I also highly recommend applying for RSI.

Being accepted to RSI looks tremendously good at top tier colleges.

Thanks for the help! I actually attend a Math and Science Academy at my high school. Anyway, aren't Intel scholarships extremely difficult to come by. I saw some of the projects and some students had come up with new scientific discoveries and such. Thanks!

That's why you do research. =P
