college "attitude"... ?

Reading reviews for top colleges has left me confused. Many imply that, while the academics are great, the students are rude and "snooty" (their words, not mine), and it's very hard to make friends/get to know people.

Is this true? Or is it much more dependent on what you make of it, and the reviewers would respond this way to the college experience in general? Personally, I consider myself independent and outgoing, but this worries me a little bit?

Thoughts?

It totally depends on the situation! There is no way an entire college can be filled with "rude and snooty" people! Granted, there are always going to be some, but they will not have total domination over an entire campus. Trust your own judgment, as those types of reviews are totally subjective.

There are some colleges where people are just like that. They get along with each other... I can name a few schools I've seen where the majority of people seem to be like that. I would not want to go to school that had that reputation.

A lot of times, people with money think that they are better than others. Usually people going to very expensive schools have grown up with lots of money.

I'm sure that there are very humble students there. Just remember that you usually hear about the very bad or good things.

Thanks. This consoles me a bit.

Someone also said UCLA was like that, but you could hardly call UCLA expensive. Bu maybe it's going to college in a large city? Because I've also heard bad things about Columbia.
