Hi all! I’ll be auditioning for college MT programs in a few months, and I need some advice about good audition songs.
For my ballad, I’m considering “Dear Friend”- from She Loves Me (which I know can be considered an overdone show, but I feel like the song is overlooked quite often and would be great) and “Moonfall”- from The Mystery of Edwin Drood. For my uptempo, I’m deciding between “Wherever He Ain’t” from Mack and Mabel, and “All Falls Down” from Chaplin. I’m a legit soprano, but am comfortable low notes and belting also. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Also, can anyone suggest some good monologues?? I’m having trouble finding good ones.
You will need more than one ballad and one uptempo, and many schools require one of your pieces to be pre-1960. Do you have a voice teacher or vocal coach who can assist you? Without truly knowing your voice it is hard to suggest specific pieces.
