College Board fees

Did anyone else notice that the cost to send score reports is stupidly high? I'll give you an example, using the 2008-2009 fees:

Cost to send scores to four schools after registration: $9.50 x 4 = $38

Cost to take one subject test, which includes four score reports: $29

Difference: $9

Why would the College Board charge less for one to take a test AND send the reports than to just send the score reports? Is it just a money-making thing?

The thing is, they give you those 4 free reports but the vast majority of people end up needing to send scores again (and generally end up paying) because they take multiple SATs/Subject Tests and need to send in the updated score report. Plus the fact that most people apply to more than 4 schools...

yeah...i mean, they can claim that it's affordable that way, "take it one time and apply to four schools for a low price of x"
