college book awards

I am receiving a college book award from Bay Path University. Does anyone know what that means and do I receive money with it? and how many people get these awards?

Yes the book awards typically come with a scholarship if you are accepted and attend that school. It helps with the admissions process as well. I believe guidance, teachers, etc. nominate students for the awards. My son receive the St. Lawrence University book award. He did not choose SLU but it was a nice award to put on his common ap and I think it made him more attractive to other schools as well.

Congratulations!

I have never heard of a scholarship with book awards. These are normally awarded in high school, way before apps and decisions made.

And often awarded by local alumni, not the college itself. Or nominated by teachers. I think many give a book.

If OP received the award and has questions, he/she can ask the GC if there’s a contact to call or write.

My D received a book award from a university in Massachusetts and it did come with an automatic scholarship of a few thousand dollars for her first year, if she is admitted. She also received a book.

DS and DD goth got book awards, one to W&L and one to Hopkins. Each came with a book. No scholarship.

Book awards at our school were done by local alums, had no bearing on acceptance to the given school, and no money associated with them.

My son’s SLU book award came with a few thousand dollars scholarship if accepted and attended. Almost all of the book awards given out to the juniors came with scholarships. The largest was 10K and I think it was to R.I.T. or U of R. Can’t remember! Only one award was an actual book. It definitely gives you a boost in admissions.

When my kids were in school…RPI Book award came with a $10k or $15k scholarship…if the recipient applied to and attended RPI.

Otherwise…im not sure what they got…
