So I ended high school with a not so stellar gpa, but a high act. the low gpa wasn't because im not smart, but because i was extremely lazy, and slacked a lot. After high school, I realized I really need to get my *** together to prepare for the future. I want to go to my state flagship university (University of Illinois) but i wouldnt have gotten in after hs. so now i can either go to a community college, then transfer asap or go to an average state university (Eastern Illinois University) and transfer after a year or two. Each choice has its pros and cons. Going to a community college will save money, help me mature, and i can kill my gen eds. but i am Nigerian, and my parents are kinda strict, and i'vw never got a feeling of freedom. Going to a state university will give me that sense of freedom, and it's not too expensive. it will also make the transfer process easier since its accreditied. but i could possibly get distracted at a state university, and its slightly more expensive than a comm college. Now i Know its my choice, but what wuld u do in my situation.? sorry that was long, but THANK YOU. ps, my gpa isnt so awful that i cant get into any school. im positive i culd get into this state university.

c’mon 200 views and no replys??? a little advice would help…

You should go for the community college-to-university route. There is likely to be a direct admissions path from your local public community college via articulation or transfer agreements - contact a counselor at the CC to find out details. You will save money and be equally positioned as far as transferring goes - if not even better, given that many flagships have preference for in-state community college students.

Your community college is accredited, by the way - every public higher education institution is regionally-accredited.

Thanksss a reply finally. most friends have been teling me to go to the public university so i can get out and have fun. but i guess ill have to make a mature decision and go for cc.

If you know you would play too much at the 4 year why would you set yourself up for failure? Go to the CC.
