How do college specific GEs figure in for transfer students? Are they no longer an issue? Also, any recomendation on the best college for an english major?

if you are premed: bioengineering, you might as well choose warren since its GEs are conducive towards any engineering major. however, for the prospective non-engineering premed student revelle might suit him/her best. i go to revelle, and i received a letter during the summer outlining several of revelle's notable features, one of which being that revelle had a higher admissions rate of its students getting into medical school than that of any other public college in the nation. it's up to you to figure out whether or not i'm lying.

also, revelle's food is tremendously underrated. i would put plaza cafe above warren's canyon vista, sixth's foodworx, and erc's cafe ventanas (though ventanas is classy)\
.

DKBF, by public college, u mean every other public university in the whole nation? and this is separate from the other 5 UCSD colleges?

yes, in other words every other public university. and yes, revelle -- not including the five colleges as a whole.

What if I'm majoring in Pharmacological Chemistry and planning to go into Pharmacy? Which college??

Revelle, if your up for the challenge. Lately, pharmacy has been a tough field to get into and therefore you would want to impress the admission officers as much as possible. But then again, Muir won't be that bad if you can maintain a better GPA there.
Its all up to you. If you want a challenge, then Revelle. If not, Muir.

hmmm. i heard warren is good for science majors. what about warren.? muir doesnt have single dorms.. right?

Warren is not worth it if your not an engineering major (has more GE's than Muir). So don't even bother with that college. Go for Muir or Revelle.

Can anyone comment on Marshall?

Warren

Revelle

ERC

Marshal

Muir

Sixth

marshall is the middle of the 3 popular dining places, people that I've met there are nice too.

I am biochem major so i choose:
revelle
muir
marshall
warren
erc
sixth

muir has singles, muir thought they didn't have enough room so they told everyone that.

Note, Transfer Agreements to UCSD via IGETC is not the same at all colleges.

Certification of IGETC completion is the responsibility of the last California Community College
the student attended in regular session prior to transfer.
Students who do not fully complete the IGETC before transfer will be required to satisfy the
specific lower-division General Education-Breadth requirements of the CSU or UC school, college,
or campus they attend.
Eleanor Roosevelt and Revelle Colleges at UC San Diego do not accept the IGETC. Students who
complete the IGETC should enroll in either Sixth, John Muir, Thurgood Marshall, or Earl Warren College
at UCSD. Since all majors are open to students in each college at UCSD, students who opt for the
IGETC are not restricted in their choice of major.
The California Community Colleges, the California State University, and the University of
California have jointly published a series of informative “IGETC Notes” that contain
comprehensive guidelines and details about the certification of coursework and implementation
procedures for the IGETC.
