college choice

Which college did everyone put as their first choice?

i put warren. what about you?

I put Warren because I stayed there this summer and liked it a lot, Muir was a close second, and Marshall a close third. I want to be close to the library and stuff if I go there and all the others are farther away.

are the warren dorms nice? i think i put muir last because the tour guide said that was where all the weird/crazy people were

The warren dorms are really nice, once section is brand new, the others look fairly new also.

nothing compares to warren... maybe except for the yellow dorms near the ocean lounge

but what sucks about warren is that it requires the most requirements

muir requires the least reqiurements but the muir appartments look crappy

i guess nice dorms are the 'reward' for taking up such a huge courseload

im a freshman at ucsd.
---> warren dorms are actually quite small, imo, although they do look nice from the outside. erc freshman dorms are by far the best/newest.
and warren also doesnt have that many ge reqs, compared to revelle or erc... the annoying thing is that their dorms are an ****ing-off distance from everything without providing really adequate compensation. It's about a 5 minute walk to its own lecture hall... and like 10 minutes to the center of campus (price center).
--- just wanted to say what i thought

I put Revelle... I ranked the colleges mostly on how good their websites looked. Also Revelle had a picture of a rice cooker in their dorms, haha :)

Either Warren or Marshall. I honestly don't remember.

I picked the one that gave me credit for my 3 on the AP Environmental Science exam.

Just some suggestions: The biggest criteria to choose an UCSD college is GE requirements and first year writing sequence. Secondly, you should look at location and housing. Of course, nothing beats a real visit.

Revelle - GE aims to make you a renaissance student and carries perhaps the heaviest load. Hume or Humanities is considered a hard writing sequence and lasts quiet a few terms (lasts 5 quarters).

Muir - Muir GEs are aimed to be flexible so you can be more creative and have more flexibility. Muir Writing is not considered too hard and lasts a couple quarters.

Marshall - Aims to educate students as citizens, with emphasis on scholarship/service to community. Dimensions of Culture of DOC examines popular culture and contemporary social issues (lasts three quarters).

Warren - Warren has a reputation to be the engineering school thus they have a lighter load of GEs and Warren Writing isnt too difficult and lasts a couple quarters.

Eleanor Roosevelt/ERC - GE aims to educate student in international affairs and looks at the world through a global perspective. Students may specialize a specific region of the world in the writing sequence Making of the Modern World (MMW) (lasts quiet a few quarters, 5?)

Sixth - GE aims to combine Culture Art and Technology (CAT) and lasts 3 quarters.

Just a brief overview and probably riddled with mistakes since I am recalling my undergrad days.....but it gives you a sense of what to look for when researching into the colleges :)

I put Eleanor Roosevelt College first.

I took the tour of the campus and didn't get to see Roosevelt. How is it?

ERC has a pretty ambitious curriculum. MMW probably rivals Hume in difficulty and lasts quiet a while. Some of my ERC friends thought it was a waste of time but others came to love it. More than any other college I think, ERC strives to model itself after a liberal arts college. I heard good things about the new ERC building and dorms, the super complex i think its called. Its pretty much brand new. I think ERC being a younger college is now growing and gaining in popularity.

Thanks GradStudent...appreciate the first-hand knowledge.

Hmm...I can't remember..I think I puit Warren and 6th?

I'll check my paperwork...runs...

Weird...I don't see it on my app. I am pretty sure at least one was Warren. =P
