College class of 2014- application process diary

This was my honest thought process when applying to colleges (and I was the biggest prestige whore):

whoa, columbia, manhattan, nyc ,ivy :O I want to go there

I want to apply early decision to columbia

I am really good at math and physics so MIT would be the perfect place, but I would have to be genius to get in

I wonder if I have a shot at Harvard

looks up college board information for Harvard, Yale Princeton I probably don't have a big shot at those 3

I haven't taken my SATs yet, and I predict somewhere in the 2200s, so I should stick with columbia early decision

I put all of the ivy leagues and MIT on my college list. I am determined to go to an ivy. Idc about finding the right "fit"

I non-chalantly throw Stanford in there as backup. It's in California, and not my top choice.

I decide to apply to Yale scea. It's one of the most prestigious schools on my list, and Harvard and Princeton don't have early programs. I need to apply early somewhere

I apply early to Yale

december 15th- *, deferred by Yale

waiting for the rest of decisions

pi day- HOLY *
I GOT INTO MIT. I don't care that much about HYP anymore

end of march- Wow, got into Stanford. But HOLY **** I GOT INTO MIT!

april 1st- Yale, Harvard, Princeton accepted me, as did Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, and Brown. Suck it Yale for deferring me in the first place-I'm not matriculating. MIT's financial aid SUCKS. DAMNIT. I can't go to MIT because it's too expensive.

I decide between H+P and choose Princeton.

voila, Princeton '14

List yours!

I don’t think you will get much replies to this thread, but congrats on Princeton.

An honest thought process to describe the figment of your vivid imagination?

Some people never know when to quit.

Like talking to yourself much?

Just for reference, what were your tangibles going in? That’s an impressive list of colleges that all accepted you.

Well, since everyone brags on cc anyways, I thought I would start this thread for you guys. My tangibles: white male, 2400 SAT, similar subject test scores, “normal” white dude extracurriculars, underrepresented state

Bragging does indeed happen on our forums. It is unfortunate, but is well within the TOS. Posting embellished and fabricated stories is not only unfortunate but misleading. It is, however, not against the basic TOS rules.

Where College Confidential draws the line is when a member repeatedly engages in such activity through one or multiples accounts.

This post made me laugh.

Congratulations and good luck!

Humility is incredibly under-appreciated these days. Self-glorification only makes one seem pathetic, immature, haughty, obnoxious, and laughable. Congratulations on “posting” (aka “bragging”) on an anonymous forum!
