I’ll be going to San Diego State University. It was my first choice, since the beginning of senior year. I was part of the top 10 percent of my class so I was guaranteed acceptance to at least one UC, but I’ve always loved San Diego and love the feel of the campus. To be honest it was the M.A.C. counter in the book store and the on campus chipotle that made me want to go.

Smith College

It was my first choice when I first began my college search in 10th grade, but by the time I applied to colleges, it was only my third choice. However, as senior year went on, Smith gradually became my first choice again.

I guess I already answered that in #2.

1) I’m a Bruin, an UCLA Bruin!

2) Honestly, I didn’t think I’d get into the top 2 UCs, because I screwed up on my essay! One of my required essays didn’t send, but my optional one did, which was not on topic by the way. However, I did have ELC (I am within the top 4% of my entire class), and was guaranteed admission to all other UCs! I applied to 10 privates. But UCLA was always in my top 2 whenever I wavered…

3) I only made my decision the beginning of the fourth week of April. I never thought I’d get in to begin with, and my parents were telling everyone and wouldn’t consider any other schools except for LMU (private in LA).

Plus as superficial as it is, I almost chose UCI or LMU because of my boyfriend. That’s OK though because distance won’t phase what we have :). But I’m glad about my choice, even though I never had the idea of getting in to begin with!

1) university of Wisconsin-river falls!!

2) even though it’s a small state school, it was absolutely my first choice

3) I cannot see myself on a large campus, so that puts most the really good schools in my area out of the running… I love the little campus, it’s close enough to home in case I need it, but far enough away that im independent… it’s just perfect for me
im so excited!!!

1) College you’ll attend: Cornell University
2)Was it your first choice?: YESSS
3)If yes, for how long? #1 for my program, ivy league, loved the school. Been my #1 since around… spring of 2010.

1) Stanford
2) Didn’t have a first choice
3) Well, I honestly didn’t have a first choice, as I could see myself being equally happy at almost of the schools to which I applied. In the end it was the first choice of everyplace I got into.

1) Washington and Lee University

2) Yep

3) I bounced around a few different schools before settling on W&L. When I pick my #1, I’m hellbent on going there and passionate about it until I move on. I was set on Wake Forest first, but fate had it that I would randomly decide W&L was it. I switched my application just in time for EDII and got in at the end of January.

4) Thankfully, I am going to my #1.

1) Yale
2) Not really. My first choices were Wash U or Colorado College, and i refused to rank my long shots (HYP, MIT). And really, within those, it was MIT.
4) Once I allowed myself to actually look at it (after being admitted), I absolutely loved it. After visiting Yale and MIT, I actually preferred Yale, which was great, considering that their financial aid was doable too!

1) Syracuse University
2) Yes
3) Since April of junior year when I went to their spring reception for juniors.

Georgetown University

Yes

Basically, it became my first choice when I found out about the program (international health) and feel absolutely in love with dc/the campus. It was the last college I applied to, on a whim, and I ended up checking my mail everyday for stuff for Georgetown.

Boston College

No

Was not accepted to my first choice, though looking back I think I was in love with it for the wrong reasons, so I’m kind of glad the decision was made for me.

Ohio State University

Yes

I didn’t want to go to an IL school, too close to home. Atlanta and California are like my second and third homes lol, so the UC’s and any school in ATL or Florida was out. I visited the campus and fell in love. Plus my dad liked it and he doesn’t like anything. Oh yeah, I got a full ride.

1) UC Berkeley
2)Sorta
3)8th-10th grade it was my first choice
4)Turned down JHU due to finances, since I am an instate resident Cal is half as exspensive.
5) SUPER EXCITED!!!

University of Virginia

No

Was not accepted at Princeton, Duke, or Penn, which were my three top choices.

Carleton College

No, it was my second choice

n/a

My first choice was Colgate University and frankly, I got in with more money than Carleton. I didn’t really consider Carleton as it was an extreme reach for me. In the end, Carleton was a better fit for me. I still love Colgate and Carleton.

I am extremely happy with my choice!

Boston College

No, it was my formerly 10th choice

n/a

My first choice was Stanford and, as usual, I was rejected. BC was actually a near safety school since I went to a Jesuit school that had great success with BC, but I actually had a stroke of bad luck you could say and did not get into any of my target schools and kind of let my hopes up too much for some others.

Looking back, I am well content with going to BC :)

1) Northwestern University
2) It was my first choice for a time, when I was a sophomore/junior, but during end of junior year/senior year another school became my first choice.
3) I’m not going to my first choice because I was waitlisted at my first choice. I’ll be honest; I was really devastated. However, I think that I fell in love with my first choice because I wanted to become the type of student who “fit the mold” there. I sort of wanted to go there so I could become something that I am really not. I’m glad that admissions realized this (or maybe just had too many applicants :p) But after visiting Northwestern, I am so so so super excited to start school here, and I’ve realized that it’s definitely the place for me. I love it, even though I haven’t started, and right now, if I had to choose between NU and my former first choice, I’d choose NU for sure. I think/hope that things just work out the way they’re meant to be. Even though it may seem like it, not getting into a first choice school is not the end of the world by any means (though it’s hard to come to terms with this at the time).

1) Marist College
2) No. . .then yes?
3) I’d had my heart set on an east coast experience since I was in middle school. I wanted desperately to go to NYU. Then, I thought, maybe I could go to BU. Or GWU? But each of those choices fell through for financial reasons. I couldn’t even apply. Out of the colleges on my list that were left, Marist was my first choice. Mostly because it wasn’t in California.
4) Financial reasons. I knew I didn’t want to stay in California so I made leaving here my first priority with choosing my school. And then Marist offered me the opportunity to study abroad in Italy. Done deal.

UC Davis

Surprisingly, yes.

I am enormously thrilled with my decision! Perhaps future success will pave a nice path towards Stanford grad school. ^^

1) University of Notre Dame

2) Yes!

3) It was ever since I set foot on campus for a visit spring junior year :)
