college classes and major???

hi idk where to post this since i am still kind of new to this site. anyways i basically am just so confused about my classes and major and it stresses me out and gives me anxiety

i am a freshman in college and basically i just dont know what i want to do with my life. i am not sure where i am going to go with this and what kind of “answers” i am looking for but here i go

i wanted to major in chemistry in high school so i took it twice (chem accelerated as a sophomore, and college credit chemistry as a senior) and so i never really experience physics. however, now in college im taking physics and i think i like it more than chemistry. it seems more straight forward and logical and basically applied math where as when i think of chemistry i think of it more as memorization. i had to do a pre test for my chem course (just like an hour ago) and even though i took it twice in high school the concepts were still difficult for me to remember and grasp. idk if its because it’s just not my calling or its just my post-summer brain??? technically i already have college credit for chemistry from my high school course… and im really debating if i should just drop my chemistry class right now and just focus on physics and see how i like it? i dont really know!!! like i said i dont know where i am going with this, so any response is appreciated! thank you

hey guys. i lied. physics sucks too

If you are a freshman in college then this post does not belong in “high school life”. I assume that a moderator will move it soon.

There are a LOT of possible majors. You haven’t seen most of them yet. For a STEM oriented person there are wide range of types of engineering, math, operations research (which is sort of applied mathematical solutions), computer science, and many other options.

You probably should take a few courses in different options, and also pick up your university’s course book and look to try to find courses that appeal to you.

Probably half of the freshmen in university right now don’t know what they want to major in. Of the other half, half of them will change their mind within the next year. This uncertainty is perfectly normal. At this point you haven’t yet been exposed to most of the possible options, so of course you haven’t picked the right one yet.
