Last semester when I took courses at my local community college I took one class that would count towards my GE (Psychology) and one that fit my interests (Intro to Multimedia). This semester I think I will do much of the same.

In your opinion, should college classes taken while in high school be towards your GE while they're free, or towards your interests so you can see if they're a good fit for a major? I honestly do not know if what I'm doing is smart or not and would like to hear what you guys do/would do

General education requirements are supposed to help you discover new interests, so these shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. If you do have to choose, though, I’d recommend taking classes that align with your interests (especially if you aren’t sure your courses will transfer). Taking general education classes in high school will help you graduate on time if they transfer, but being able to “find yourself” and choose your major sooner will accomplish the same goal even if the courses don’t transfer.

If you go to a university after high school, you’ll have a lot more classes to choose from when you’re fulfilling your general education requirements. If you’re not interested in psychology, there’s probably no point in taking a run-of-the-mill Psychology 101 class to fulfill a social-science distribution requirement. You could wait until you get to the university and take something more appealing.
