college course difficulty

Should I prioritize getting a high gpa or taking difficult classes? I'm an engineering major at a very well-ranked school and I will have to choose between taking the standard class to fulfill an in-major requirement (which most people take) and taking an advanced version of the class, which not many people take/qualify for. It's basically the difference between a 100-level and a 200-level course. I'll have to take the same number of classes in the end anyway, so taking the 200-level won't let me take any more classes, only more difficult ones.

Is it worth it to take the harder course and possibly get a worse grade? Would employers look so closely at my transcript as to notice if I did?

Never come to CC to ask about finance stuff. Stick to WSO.

Focus the most on your GPA. Banks aren’t going to look at your transcript and look at every course you’ve taken and analyze the difficulty of them all. They may check your coursework to make sure you aren’t taking irrelevant/joke courses, but your GPA is the most important to get into an interview.

The ‘cutoff’ number is normally said to be a 3.50. Make a 4.0 your goal going forward, but remember you need to keep at least a 3.50.

Get a high GPA. Most banks won’t even look at your transcript until you accept an offer and they conduct a background check, and the only thing they do is verify your GPA.

GPA is King.
