I emailed a bunch of small newspapers in my area to inquire about an internship and one of them replied back--apparently they require the internship be used for college credit in order to allow me to work. But I haven't started college yet! I'm a rising college freshman and I have no idea how to go about this. Can I have an internship for college credit before I actually start college?? Is this possible and who should I contact at my college???

academic advising or the registrar’s office, probably

is this even feasible considering I’m not an official student yet?

Can’t hurt to ask…

is it feasible to contact them? yes…

see what they say. Explain that you have an internship opportunity but only if you can get credit for it.

It’s probably in your best interest to contact a rep in career services first. I’ve found that non-credited internships completed before matriculation tend to be more positive experiences than credited ones.
