Hi,
I’ve narrowed down my selection to two choices:
James Madison University - business (accountancy or finance)
Miami University (Ohio) - business field
and I have been stuck on choosing which school to attend next year for a couple weeks. I have done everything I could think of to help with my decision (talking to former and current students, looking on websites, talking to siblings and family members, even visited the campuses) and yet they are still dead even in my decision. I was wondering if there was more advice that I could be given to help with my choice or if one school is clear-cut better than the other and I am just not seeing it. Oh, and money is not a problem in this decision. I have enough scholarships that they are about even tuition wise.
Thanks
Miami being more of a full-fledged research school seems like it would have more resources available to students (not just those doing research) than James Madison. I’d look up how the on campus job recruiting is at each (my guess is it’s probably better at Miami but I could be wrong).
Also I’d think about which one you’d like to spend the next four years of your life at. Think about that hard.
Miami-OH is more highly ranked and is well-known in the northeast. It’s in a small town, is rather conservative/wealthy, has a gorgeous campus, drinking is big.
James Madison is up and coming, well-known in the Atlantic states including DC.
Have you visited?
Yes I have visited both schools.
okay, if you visited both colleges, did you have a “gut feeling”, something that told you “this is where I’m going to be next year”?
My oldest brother graduated from James Madison a year and a half ago so I have gotten familiar with the James Madison’s amazing campus for quite some time now. When I visited Miami it was beautiful and I really could picture myself going there.
Advice I once heard on deciding between two apparently even situations. Flip a coin. If you find yourself disappointed with the result, go the other way.
