College Decisions

Ok, I am a Senior in High School and I have been accepted into my three favorite schools.
I am going to do Pre-Med and want to be a Physiatrist.

I have been accepted into Baylor University, Austin College (a small school close to where i live that is known for preparing well for Med School), and Texas Christian University.

I know that Baylor is more known and would prepare me well for Med School.
But I fell in love with the TCU Campus, Spirit, and Personality. TCU is also slightly closer to my hometown.

How much does my place of undergraduate study matter overall? or is it more just EC's and MCAT scores?
Does TCU prepare for Med School well?

Opinions and Advice please.

Happiness trumps school name any day. If you feel like TCU is better for you, then by all means go there. Where you go, beyond having access to research, clinical experiences, and volunteering near by, really isn’t going to really affect your preparedness level. The pre-req courses are so basic compared to the level of knowledge of your professors that you can’t really get a better or worse experience in terms of the content. The major factor in the quality of those classes is going to be the quality of the teaching, which can’t be generalized on a school to school basis. All schools have good and bad teachers.

Whit Russel - Also, TCU was listed on Business Week’s Top 20 Up and Coming Schools. Between that and the Rose Bowl win, TCU is now 2nd in Texas (behind) Rice for selectivity. It will soon be a HOUSEHOLD NAME if it isn’t already! My son has a similar issue as you. Other schools he has gotten accepted to have a more prestigious name but I agree with mmmcdowe that it is about the total college experience and what you do with it, not the name of the school. College comes once in a lifetime for most of us. Enjoy the 4 years!
