College decisions

I am from Kansas City and have always wanted to attend college in Georgia since I have family there and have always wanted to live there. I had a dream school in Georgia but unfortunately I was un able to get in so I’m going to have to start somewhere else first. I got into another school in Georgia but it’s very small and when I went on my campus tour I wasn’t really feeling it because I kept thinking about the other school and was mad I would have to go somewhere else first. I don’t know if I should just suck it up and start in Georgia at a school I don’t really like or start at home at a school I don’t like.

Or even if I should take the risk and move for that matter

What schools have you been accpted to?

Reinhardt University

Are you still waiting for other decisions?

Not really because it was the only other one I could get into besides like starting at a community college there

So you only applied to 2 schools? You might have kind-of shot yourself in the foot there.

In any case, I would recommend taking a look at guaranteed/conditional transfer agreements that schools in Georgia have. For example:
http://admission.gatech.edu/conditional-transfer-pathway

Sometimes, the gateway programs will be with a specific community college, so you might choose to attend that community college because it gets you into your dream school.

The reason I did that was because I wanted to be at a school close to my family, so you think I shouldn’t start at a school I wasn’t in love with?

I think you should do some research into what I suggested, and see if there’s a direct admittance pathway into the college you want to be at.

What are the benefits of it?

What are your parents saying? Would they pay all the costs for Reinhardt or the dream schools? Or will they pay the highish OOS costs to go to a GA CC???

My parents don’t care, they said they will do whatever I’m comfortable with so if thats going to reinhardt first and then transferring or starting at a community college then transferring

How much will your parents pay per year? Are they aware some colleges cost ~$60k/year and many don’t offer much aid to transfers?

So are you suggesting community college?

The cc will work if your parents can afford to pay for your ladt 2 years out-of-pocket. Are you eligible for merit or need based aid?

Well, it’s better that you should be thankful because you are able to go in college.
