Well, it also has little summaries of each main topic. I've already read Campbell, so I'm using the workbook to review before the test, and it's been pretty useful.

Open exam isn't bad, semis is horrible. I took open on thurs.

I'm worried about my retention from last year. I hope I remember it all. I'm going through the handouts they gave us at finals last year. I can tell you the following this for Semis;

It's a monster of an exam.

The open response section is the hardest... I did really well on multiple choice and that is what saved me last year.

go to the IBO syllabus and make sure you know all of it.

Do you happen to have virtual copies of those handouts... ;) Or are you not allowed to distribute them?

@kryptonsa36

Well, there's only 500 total people taking semis. So, that means like i'm guessing there's a max of 50 ppl with my score or higher. I think I have a good chance.

So, what did everyone think about the test?

No SPECIFICS.

We can talk about specifics after this Friday.

However, I am sure that you can say, "The Genetics questions were hard."

I felt like there were many questions on material not even mentioned in Campbell (8th), such as some of the anatomy ones...

Yeah some of the anotomy was really obsscure. But overall it was okay I thought...

I think most of it was really great. Except some ones. But I was not expecting them quizzing this certain system. The practice tests never had this system, but I do Health Science in Science Olympiad, so I know some of that stuff. I think the USABO Open Exam- Anatomy portion was harder than my Invitational! I can't wait to discuss about this. :D

I'm taking it on Thursday...:/

I don't have virtual copies, sorry.

The anatomy was ridiculously obscure. I guess they finally got an anatomist on their test writing board, eh? I looked up some of the questions that I got wrong.

@Scioly:
USABO is waaaaay harder than SciOly. I did health sci, cell bio, & protein modeling last year.

How does scoring go in USABO Open Exam?

Is it:
[ul][]Correct = +1 pt
[]Wrong = +0 pt
[li]Blank = +0 pt[/li][/ul]

??? Thank you.

I believe Health Science is harder than the anatomy/physiology than USABO. I hated some of the anatomy questions, and this year's was harder than the past years.

@phos. how was the anatomy portion for you, and are you still doing Science Olympiad this year?

There's actually anatomy on this test? Ugh.. that's pretty much the main thing Campbell's is weak on.

I wish I took USABO hjskdskadkeljdakfje
sorry =(

Yeah some of anatomy was really difficult and I feel angry for avoiding studying ecology. Lots of genetics...can't wait to discuss this though.

Well...I'm taking it this afternoon. I'm good at genetics though, so whew.

I guess I should have not talked about the WHOLE test. But Anatomy seemed more than 25 percent. Anyone agree?

That was brutal...

@ansar- that's right

What was brutal? What do you think you all made on it? Harder than last year's? (Overall)

That was way harder than last years. I think I missed like 7. Probably more, though. I'll say high 30s low 40s.
