Is it bad to be writing both of my college essays- one about my activity and one about the school I want to attend- about business? I am involved in entrepreneurship for my activity, then my business school essay is about a different area of business i am involved in.
I’m not sure if i should write about diverse things that I do.
Thanks!
As long as the two essays reveal something new and different about who you are, I’m sure it will be fine. The point of essays is for the admissions officers to get to know you better. If you’re super passionate about business and can show it in a different way in each essay, go for it. It’s better to have two strong essays than a strong one and a weak one.
It’s not bad, but I would suggest that you show breadth as well as depth on your app. An application is valuable land and the real estate is expensive- make sure everything you put counts. For example, I wrote my Princeton short essay on mock trial and then wrote my long essay on a lesson I learned from losing in mock trial. When I realized this, I rewrote my short essay to be about the math book I wrote for kids (STEM/volunteering) so it would show more of my interests/who I am. Of course, the ultimate decision is yours!
