I’ve written my essay on how much T.V. I’ve watched, everything I’ve learned from it and how its made me who I am for the identity prompt. Any thoughts on it? Will admissions think all I do is watch television?
Yes. Try to find another topic. It sounds like one made up while sitting in front of the TV.
Yes rewrite that. If you ever question your own essay, then it means it’s not strong enough.
Keep in mind, this isn’t True confessions, it’s an attempt to sell your application.
The only way I can see this flying is to choose one character from one show, and show how identifying with, say, Hannah Montanna’s dual identity helped shape you into the person you are now. Even so, you would want to concentrate on 17 year old you, not the 7 year old who sat there watching the Disney Channel.
Overall, I have to agree with the others-- try another topic.
Not impressive. This is JMHO but if I were selecting students for admissions I want students who will round out the class and “bring something to the table.” A student who spent tremendous time watching T.V. and values it enough to feel compelled to write about it not what I would consider a quality student.
Spam aside, this thread dates back to October. I suspect the OP wrote his essay months ago.
