I’ve been really struggling with a college essay topic.
I want to talk about my love for TV, and for how I’ve learned so much about myself, life, and my passions, from other people’s experiences. And how it has been my coping mechanism. But I think I could be too shallow or clique.
I could also talk about how being a tomboy has shaped me, from what I wear, to my love for sports and my competitive love for games.
Advice about which topic sounds like it could be developed more and say more about my personality would be much appreciated!
IMHO, I don’t like the TV idea. I agree - it seems shallow. I do think the Tomboy concept could work if it were well written.
I agree, the Tomboy idea is stronger. Watching TV is passive and doesn’t really tell much about you as an individual.
It would be harder to pull off the TV essay, but I do know of someone who wrote a very successful essay about Star Wars. There’s really very few topics that must be avoided, it’s all in how you attack them. But how you use TV as a coping mechanism? I don’t think that’s a good idea at all.
