College Essay. Major Error. What Should I do?

OK, do I submitted my college applications today and I notice a huge error after submitting the application to the first two colleges. Here it is: "it was his way of telling me that he wanted to go to college so I wouldn't have to work like him."
What I meant was "it was his way of telling me that he wanted ME to go to college so I wouldn't have to work like him." See I want colleges to know that it is me not him. What should I do?!

Well, I don’t think there is much you can do. I’ve never heard of a college app being taken back for editing after it was submitted.
Well, we’re teens right? College admission officers are aware of that and that no matter how much revising we do, it will most likely not be perfect. I don’t think that such a minor thing will affect your admission chances, at all. I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Keep in mind that they are reading the essays quickly and may not even notice the error. When I read your sentence, I didn’t see it at first, because my mind substituted the correct idea. That is something that people’s minds do and is why we often miss typos. On a personal note, my D got into her early school even though she had a missing word in her essay.

When I submitted my UC essay I forgot to remove the stupid formatting errors the application threw up. As a result, one of my essays was filled with weird symbols. I didn’t realize this until i checked my application in February and decided not to inform the admissions office of what they already knew. I was still accepted to 3/4 of those UCs (including Berkeley).
Long story short, don’t sweat it.

You may email the admissions office and they will help sort it out. (I submitted the wrong draft of an essay to Rice and we managed to work it out, I think).

2 is correct. They read the essays very quickly and will likely substitute the correct word automatically. I think we all know what you meant.
