College Essay might go from an inexplicable masterpiece, to a blantant fail - help!

Alrightyy then.

I have spent about 4 weeks writing the greatest essay of my life on my youth idol football player Thierry Henry

Now, i kno what you're thinking... oh brother this kid is writing about another athlete.... wrong!

the whole point of my essay is to elaborate on every action Henry had that did not involve a soccer ball, including his stand up speak up campaign to eliminate rascism in the FIFA Administration.

I compared his leadership and courage to what I've done within my high school, including the 8 extra curriculars i do plus my determination to keep my GPA/SATs in par for good schools.

I also elaborated on how he opened me to soccer, not as a sport, but as a language.

Conflict: I don't know if you guys keep up with the 2010 World Cup... but today Thierry Henry basically cheated Ireland out of the world cup by giving a handball at the 103rd minute of overtime to which Gallas would score a goal. The ref didn't call it and now Henry is basically considered Europe's biggest cheat..... lol

should i be worried... personally i can think of a million reasons that justify Henry's action, and he was a man about it by admitting what he did was wrong.
In my opinion, like in all sports, its the ref's fault for not calling it... not the player's..

but what if the guy that reads my application is erm.... Irish??? or just a Henry hater.. lol

please give me some unbiased feedback on what to do.. or if any of you have been in similar situations.

Chances are probably going to follow my essay, because i literally poured my soul into it, but i would love your insight.

I’d say it would be quite unfortunate if the guy ended up being an Irish soccer fan, but chances are that’s not the case. In any matter, you already wrote it, and there’s no point to sacrifice your essay (your voice) because of some event.

I don’t think that a college would reject your essay because they didn’t like who you compared yourself to… they really just look at how much time you put into it and the quality of the sentences, like grammar, spelling, and sentence structure… If they reject your essay because they are an Irish soccer fan then they really shouldn’t be reading anyone’s essay because they are biased against other prospective students… Just turn it in… It shows who you are… and not turning your essay in after working on it for so long would just be a waste of time so just turn it in and hope for the best.
