College Essay Plagiarism

Ok so I posted my common app essay draft on college confidential in July. I am now worried that colleges will put my essay in a plagiarism checker like turnitin and find my essay on here. I’m not as worried if someone steals my essay because the feedback I received was pretty negative…

So basically, do colleges look for similarites to college essays on the internet? Or do they look for similarities to other essays that were submitted to Cornell? Both? Or do they not look at all? If they do accuse me of plagiarism, how would I go about proving myself wrong?

Posting an essay on here was not a good idea…There is no way to prove that it was you that posted it, and honestly they probably won’t even accuse you of it- they’ll just reject you.
Since you say you got pretty negative feedback, I would suggest writing a different essay.

Agree that negative feedback means you need to write a new one anyway, so it doesn’t matter now.
